The Interstate HSL1079 is a high-rate sealed lead-acid (AGM / VRLA) battery designed to deliver higher current output than standard SLA batteries of similar size. While commonly used in commercial and backup power applications, its ability to handle short, high-amp loads makes it a popular upgrade choice for TAG-style push-start kart setups.
Compared to standard SLA batteries (like the SLA1079), the HSL version is built with internal plates optimized for faster discharge and stronger cranking, which is exactly what electric kart starters demand. It is frequently used on engines such as IAME KA100, X30, Leopard, and Mini Swift where reliable starting power matters.
As with all Interstate batteries, the HSL1079 is maintenance-free, vibration-resistant, and built for consistent performance in demanding environments.
