ADDITIONAL NOTES: DOT 5.1 brake fluid is a glycol-ether-based fluid with a higher boiling point and lower viscosity, making it ideal for high-performance or modern vehicles with ABS and ESP systems. It is fully compatible with DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids, allowing for mixing if needed. However, many high-quality racing DOT 4 fluids exceed the temperature ratings of DOT 5.1, making them a better choice for extreme performance applications. Both types are hygroscopic and require regular replacement to maintain effectiveness.
